The thyroid gland is a butterfly-shaped organ and it is located at the base of the neck, bending at the height of the base of the throat. It is responsible for the production of thyroxine, a hormone which regulates heart rate, metabolism, and development of children.
To locate this organ, you need to touch Adam`s apple area on your throat with one finger, while touching the breastbone with other fingers. The thyroid gland is located between the fingers.
