A normal menstrual cycle varies from 28 to 35 days. But if your periods are out of schedule, longer or shorter than expected time, then we call it irregular periods or irregular menstruation.
Irregularity of periods describes some unhealthy habits or underlying disease which causes this irregularity. Treatment depends on finding out what’s causing your irregular periods, but there are remedies you can try at home to get your cycle back on track.
1. Regular Exercise
Daily exercise helps your body in many ways, it relaxes your body and mind, helps in weight loss, regulate your blood pressure, balances insulin levels and many more. All these factors play a key role in maintaining healthy menstruation as well. All women with irregular periods should practice daily brisk walking or any exercise for 1 hour.

3. Healthy Weight
Your weight has direct affect on your periods, if you are underweight then you can have irregular periods and if you are overweight or obese then you can experience heavy, irregular and painful menstruation. That is why maintaining a healthy weight is important to have healthy menstruation.
4. Ginger Tea
Medicinal plants have beneficial properties for men and women and ginger root is the one which helps in repairing you body and rebalancing your hormones. Ginger is believed to regulate your menstruation and helps in heavy and painful periods too.
5.Pomegranate
Pomegranate is one of the all in one fruit and rich in iron content. It fulfills iron demand and regulates anemia related menstruation irregularities. Pomegranate peel also help in regulating irregular periods, heavy flow and pelvic inflammations.
6. Peppermint Tea

All women can have irregular period once in lifetime but every time you need not to consult your gynecologist. But if you are experiencing following symptoms then you need to see your doctor.
- you didn’t have your periods for three months
- you have a period more than once every 21 days
- your periods are unusually heavy or painful
- your periods are longer than a week
- abnormal bleeding
